Sometimes it takes a market disruption to enable a new technology to emerge and take hold – or save the day. And this is the case with cloud computing. Today in eWeek, they talked about the potential growth of cloud computer among SMBs. Essentially IDC in a recent report said that the more financial squeezed companies are, the more likely they are to adopt cloud computing. You know, back in the 80s they had this same issue with such blasphemous talk of migrating from a mainframe computer to a midrange computer – gasp! People could not believe it! Now todaym the thought of an operating system that is not tied to the current beliefs seems to scare the life out of some people that have become so dependent on the “system”

IDC says that speding will increase significantly over the next five years, growing to $42 billion by 2012.They also forecast that spending on cloud computing will account for one-fourth of all IT spending growth in 2012. And folks its almost 2009  – so you do the math.
