Tuesday Rant: Try not. Do. Or Do Not. There Is No Try

This rant sounds like a continuation of last week’s Tuesday Rant, so I will keep it short. There are do-ers and there are those that say they will do. My rant is about that latter, those that don’t do. I believe that at some point, those don’t do people should be just weeded out and sent to a really hot place where it never cools off.  Also, one time is a fluke, two times, maybe you just forget, but repeatedly? Just bad work habits. Yoda was right – Try not. Do.

Tuesday Rant: Why Can’t People Just do Better? And Siri is Skynet

I think that people should just do better. Full stop. I think we all know we can do a better job but then we just don’t. We justify our sloppy work, our tardiness, our “I will do it tomorrow” attitude because we can. The internets has made us all the ultimate procrastinators – calling five minutes after you are supposed to be somewhere saying you are almost there when you haven’t even left your flat.

And do we really need Siri? I mean really? We now can’t be bothered to stop and text someone that we have to use this Skynet 1.0 or Hal 1.0 bitch to speak to our phone so it writes for us what we used to type just to tell a friend we are “almost there” when we haven’t even left our flat? (on a side note, someone told me today that Siri is just a way for Apple to gather information and test out this command protocal to pave the way for AppleTV – you just talk to your TV – and it does stuff, sound like an X-Files episode or what? )

And you wonder why people don’t know how to relate to each other anymore.

A Belated Tuesday Rant – Tea is Dumb

Tea is dumb. It’s a lean back beverage. Tea makes no sense and has no place in the universe, even more, it has no place in a man’s hand. Here’s how a conversation goes with tea:

Open on a guy in a office drinking tea. He is leaning back in a chair holding a big steaming hot mug of the weedy crap. Co worker Bob walks by and says: “Hey Mike, wanna come and join us for this product strategy meeting?”

Mike replies, leaning way back in his chair, “when I’m done with this cup.”

You know how a coffee drinker would respond? “Sure Bob, let’s roll and get some shit done, man life is good, my girlfriend is like magic and have you seen that new Jason Statham film? Awesome.”

Tea is dumb.

Tuesday Rant or: How I Learned to Hate the iPhone

Posted by Tattletech on Oct 4, 2011 in Technology, Tuesday Rant

I don’t care about no stinking iPhone.

Another day of tech nothingness dominated by the news of the new iPhone (honestly, we could link you to an article, but throw an iStone and you will hit one). Now we have even more reasons to turn into drooling, mindless, blathering idiots all jabbering away about the merits of a phone–a phone that is a walled garden of services and the best example of Big Brother and control of what we read, watch and consume. We march to the drum of one brilliant mad man and his vision to enslave us with the consumption of entertainment so that our little minds are numbed and we can’t make a complete sentence anymore that doesn’t start with “what phone do you have?”

The great Aldus Huxley feared that we would be given so much input that we would be reduced to passivity and egotism. Open your eyes, wake up to the new drug that insulates you from choice and control and just makes decisions for you. Take a hit off the Blockbuster syringe that is the iPhone. Welcome to your future.

…and tune in to the announcement now!
